Claim PPI for Self-Employed

Hi all,
I have read through the advice on legitimate reasons for reclaiming PPI on this site. I understand that in many cases, PPI was sold to Self-Employed people, even though the policy would not cover people in these work circumstances, thus making the policy worthless, hence the claim for mis-selling.
I purchased an income protection policy from Best Insurance, since alternatively known as British Insurance, Assurant Solutions, and Adminicle Insurance. I have never claimed against it, so i do not know if they would ever pay out to a Self-Employed person. Their sales people obviously say that they would, but how do i know? And if they don't or wouldn't, how can i claim back my premiums through mis-selling?
Thanks

'Why would they obviously lie?'
Ehrm, this entire PPI farce is about Financial companies lieing and deceiving their customers!
I was hoping that someone on here would have some knowledge of this particular company, also known as Trent Services, and whether anyone has brought a PPI claim against them on the grounds of being Self-Employed.0 -
I don't think "lying and deceit" are at the heart of the PPI mis-selling debacle, but that's a separate discussion…Ehrm, this entire PPI farce is about Financial companies lieing and deceiving their customers!.
As I said, ask the company for the policy terms and check if the insurance covered the self-employed. If it did, then you have no complaint.0 -

Some types of PPI dont cover self employed. Many do. MPPI and income protection type PPI tend to be the ones that do cover them without onerous conditions.Their sales people obviously say that they would, but how do i know?
Because they told it would and the you would expect it to. Most do.I purchased an income protection policy from Best Insurance, since alternatively known as British Insurance, Assurant Solutions, and Adminicle Insurance.
That also indicates a direct purchase and non-advised.Ehrm, this entire PPI farce is about Financial companies lieing and deceiving their customers!
So, your approach is tar all companies with the same brush even though they have very different distribution channels and issues that wont apply to them that say the banks have suffered?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). I'm a newbie so here goes....
In 2006 we remortgaged with the HALIFAX. As my husband who was the main earner at the time was self employed we were advised by the HALIFAX that we would need life cover and PPI for the remortgage to be accepted.
Following their advice we took out life insurance with FRIENDS PROVIDENT and PPI with AXA COUNTRYWIDE INSURANCE SOLUTIONS.
We are still repaying both the PPI and life insurance and I now feel that we were missold this as PPI should be optional.
Please can anyone give me some advice of who to contact HALIFAX or AXA COUNTRYWIDE to reclaim my PPI?
Many thanks0 -
Not on mortgages it doesn't. Only if they told you that the PPI was compulsory when it wasn't would you have a valid mis-selling complaint.Misscarlyi wrote: »I now feel that we were missold this as PPI should be optional.0 -
Halifax's documents stated it was optional so that wont work.Misscarlyi wrote: »We are still repaying both the PPI and life insurance and I now feel that we were missold this as PPI should be optional.0 -
