PIP claims - first official statistics released.

How short sighted of you. It's possible (as is the same with ESA) that they went to tribunal and then won, or had a reconsideration and won. Would be interesting to see if there are any stats on this.
I compared like with like. DLA v PIP before any reconsiderations and/or appeals.
10% less applicants for PIP are being given awards at first application over the number given under DLA on first application.
PIP is therefore having the desired effect of reducing the overall budget by 20% in monetary terms.0 -

Oh yes - 63% - need a new pair of specs!
Under DLA it was approx 53% who failed to get an award.0 -

This seems very unlikely to be true.
It seems a pretty fair spread:
On 8th April 2013, PIP was introduced as a controlled start, for new claims from people living in the North West and part of the North East of England.
On 10th June 2013, PIP was introduced for new claims for the remaining parts of Great Britain
From 28 October 2013, DWP started to invite DLA claimants living in Wales, East Midlands West Midlands and East Anglia to claim PIP
I think it is a fair representation that is giving an indication that PIP is working and the 20% saving is on target.

Making some possibly unwarranted assumptions - as there are no published statistics.
The intended aim of PIP over DLA is to reduce the expenditure by 20%.
In 2010, new claims were being awarded DLA at the average rate which about equalled the high rate care rate - about todays equivalent of 80 pounds.
About 45% of new claims for DLA eventually resulted in an award.
Around 37% of PIP are - which is about smack on 80%.
This implies the average award for PIP - if everything is going to plan - is again around 80 pounds.
Of the 220K new claims for PIP - for those not terminally ill - it seems likely that 80K or so will eventually get PIP.
80K * 30 weeks * 80 pounds = 200 million pounds.
By delaying decisions about those least able to cope.0 -
What im confused about is that i thought all DLA renewels were being assesed for PIP...i had cause last week to phone the DLA and asked when they will be sending the PIP forms out to me...my DLA ends the end of August...he told me i won't be assesed for PIP it will still be DLA, is this correct?0

I won't be that surprised if they're so far behind that those who are coming up for renewal are being kept on DLA. I know someone on here said that her sons DLA (he turns 16 soon) will be kept as DLA until they're invited to claim PIP. It would have normally been around about now, I think. But they're very far behind.Sealed pot challenge #232. Gold stars from Sue-UU - :staradmin :staradmin £75.29 banked
