They have a cafe and do nice food too. I have never been to the one in Morningside as the Musselburgh one is easier for me to get to.Lucca's is the best ice cream in the world.Fact.

I ended up spending £7 at the weekend. One of our cats suffers from allergies from time to time. She goes through phases of licking a certain area on her back. The vet advised us to put a baby's t-shirt on her to stop her licking. It worked the last time. I noticed on Friday night that she was licking the same area again so I bought a pack of 5 babygrows (cut the press studs off though). When it is healed she will stop licking it for a few months again. Much cheaper than yet another trip to the vet. Also bought 3 bars of chocolate, one for each of LMG, sis and myself. LMG went for them and didn't seem to be forthcoming with change...
Nothing into bestie's fund or sealed pot again as I have no money in my purse now. I used some of the CSA money to buy myself some creme eggs this morningI was desperate ok?!
I need to pay £15 to the school for the iPad case contribution. That will come out of the CSA money so no problem there.
I really fancy a book which I can get on Amazon but I don't really want to pay for it. I used to do SwagBucks but had not looked at it for ages. Last week I popped on to see where I was at. I did a couple of surveys over a couple of days and I got up to the £5 Amazon voucher! I will get the book with that
I was also waiting for cashback from a retailer from away last year (April I think). It eventually came through and when I went to redeem it I discovered I could get an extra 5% if I took it as an Amazon voucher (more if I took it as other vouchers but that would just be wasted). I get regular deliveries of cat food / litter / etc. from Amazon so will add it to my Amazon account as soon as it comes through. Feeling quite good about that.

Well I got one of the Amazon vouchers in today so I went to buy the book. Turned out that it was only free postage if my order came to over £10. The book was £4.92. There is absolutely nothing else I need at the moment and I don't want to be spending money (even although it is vouchers) unnecessarily. I looked further and found one for £2.85 with £2.80 delivery. Just an extra 73p. Went with that. Book should be here end of next week or thereabouts
The petty cash tin at work owed me £2.48. Someone went to the post office and got a £2 coin in the change so I grabbed it and a 50p. Now I owe 2p but the two coins will go into bestie's fund and sealed pot :T
Paid £15 to the school for the iPad case. Gave LMG £5 towards lunch money.
It's not payday until tomorrow but I had to go for petrol this morning (was seriously running on fumes) so put it on the cc and will transfer it across tomorrow.
Got lunch with me and off to parents' for tea tonight so no further unplanned spending today.

Payday :j
All my money is allocated so really, there is not much to be excited about. I suppose I just like seeing the little pots I have increasing.
Various pots topped up. The only ones to speak of are:
£40 to buyout fund - now up to £12,280.
£1.98 to buyout holding fund (includes £1.87 from tax credit round down this morning).
£370 over to holiday fund. Just uplifted £63.50 from the emergency savings to make the fund up to the £1000 balance I have to pay. Will pay that next Wednesday and that will be the travel agents paid. Need to pay that back next month. Just have to get the food and spending money. To be honest though, I don't really spend money on holiday, only eating out and excursions so it's really just food and unforseen circumstances that I need money for. I want to buy park tickets for the one day we are at Disney and for two days at Universal though so that will have to come from next month's pay too. We worked out this morning that it is 13 weeks on Friday that we go. That has sure gone down fast from 21 weeks! 3 paydays _pale_
One piece of news, one of my cc's is with my current account provider. If I spend over £300 in a month I get £5 cashback (not the greatest deal but I keep the card for using abroad as no fees). Last month I only spent £52 on it. I logged onto internet banking this morning and found a £5 credit on my cc account. I immediately called them to let them know (I like to be correct and in the right with things). The lady told me that it was from last month's £300 spend. I tried to explain that I got that £5 but (although she was very polite and nice about it) I felt a bit stupid. She told me to check my statements and if I still thought it was wrong, to call back. I checked. I still thought it was wrong. I called back. I said exactly the same to the man who answered as what I had said to the woman. He looked and saw straight away what I was talking about (this is after I have printed off 5 statements and written out balances to be able to verbalise what I mean). He told me that he wasn't going to take the £5 credit back as it appears to be a bank error. He checked with a manager and the manager said he didn't know of any problems with the system so I was just to keep it. The original man said he would email head office to explain and to say I had called.
Of course, I don't trust anyone, least of all the bank (and the council and ScottishPower and RBS and...) so I will prepare myself for them wanting it back. It is not allocated in my budget so I will just leave it there until someone else spots it

Had a bit of news from my boss this morning and I feel a bit unsteady about it.
We are a small law firm (5 of us including the boss) and for the past 6 years I have been single-handedly running the cashroom. I qualified as a law accountant in 2010. We all get on well and things are smooth. Everything runs nicely and we work well individually because we have to but we also work well as a wee team when we need to. I have been here 7.5 years (never made it past 2 years in a job before I came here).
The boss dropped the bombshell this morning that he has been approached by a larger firm and they want to take us over. If it goes ahead (it will, won't it? I'm kidding myself to think it might not, aren't I?) it is to all be completed by 1st May.
The larger firm want to be huge and have big plans (I don't know them yet - only just found all this out this morning in a 10 minute chat with the boss). There are pros and cons of all this, obviously.
The boss has said he will only allow the transfer if mine and one of my colleagues' (has been here 22 years) job's are safe. The new firm are saying yes, they will honour that. Thing is though, they have said that they would like to employ me as a PA to two guys (don't know who, I don't have any info yet) and to help out in the cashroom now and then. I worked my a$$ off to get to the level that I am at now and I don't want to take a step backwards. Is being a PA a step backwards? Does anyone know what sort of salary I could ask for as a PA? I was a PA a few years back and I know I am good at that but I like doing the accounts which is why I did the law accountant course. I am a very good legal cashier and I enjoy it far more than the PA stuff. Probably sounds like I am blowing my own trumpet here but that is not my intention.
Everything is so up in the air. I can't talk to anyone about it as it is all just in talks at the moment.
I have a nice emergency fund so if the worst comes to the worst, I will be fine for a couple of months.
I am just apprehensive.Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000

Hello gap, I was lurking and after reading your latest post I just wanted to give you some support.
If you don't want to be a PA, I'm sure someone would love to take you on! Accountants in general are just needed, though I have to admit I don't know anything about your specialism.
After a quick google, I found this so it appears that you would be in demand.
Best of luck gap. I've really enjoyed your diary thus far.0 -
Legal firm accounts are specialised so I would expect you to be in demand. I'd say go with what you're offered but look around even to the larger accountancy practices as I know that audit requirements, etc are different for law firms and they would probably value the skills of your practical experience in one of their teams. In a way I think this is really positive as you now have been prompted to consider where your future lies. Most people only manage that when facing unemployment. You have the safety net of a job. What role will your boss have in the merged firm?Mortgage at 01.01.14 £119,481.83:eek: today £0 Emergency fund £5.5/5.5k & £200/200 cash.:jWeight 24/02/19 14st 7lb now 12st determined to stop defining myself by my mistakes.
