I parked in the wrong bay (not disabled) whilst shopping on a free car park at a discount store on Saturday and after going back today noticed they have a camera facing towards the other bays in the car park these are not for use by the discount store i was shopping at. It was signposted but the discount stores car park was completely full so much so that people were parking on the hatched markings ( No parking area but still owned by the discount store and not covered by any camera.)
It is in England and they use Parkingeye to recover there costs.
What advice would you give me? I haven't received the ticket yet but am awaiting it this week, i was only parked there for around 20 minutes and then left, the shop that used to own the car park closed a few months ago.
Reason for not disclaiming the discount store is i have heard of parking eye trawling the internet

ParkingEye, via their ANPR camera system, only monitor time in and time out. The system does not monitor or record where anyone parks, so from that point of view you're not going to get anything from PE.
If anything does turn up, come back for more advice. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.

How would a camera know which store you were shopping in?
