Florist - Is this normal practice??

Hi you lovely lot,

Well I have been communicating with a number of florists to get quotes for our flowers. These have ranged from £260 to £311. One of the florists asked me to forward her how much the lowest quote was, so I did. She is now requesting proof of this, like I am some kind of liar!

I have never known anyone speak to their customers like this, let alone customers who had intention of spending £300ish in their shop....

She is probably asking because she operates a price matching policy...

Nothing is mentioned on her website and she didn't mention anything about price matching....

  • I would be upfront and ask her why she requires this information, explain that you feel uncomfortable sharing it without knowing why she needs it.

If you are happy with her service and general manner then maybe just try to ignore it?

Yeah, if she's rude now she'll be worse when she's got your cash.

  • Where are you based? I would go with who your happy with, if you aren't happy with the way she has spoken to you then there are plenty of other florists out there.
The way I figure, you're going to be having meetings with her as well as seeing her on your wedding day, would you want to see her on your wedding day? I know some people wouldn't say it's important but for me it is, it's not like you are going into a shop buying something & then leaving.

    Xx

I'm based in Cumbria, yes there's a florist locally who are wonderful really lovely and I'd much prefer to go with them. Initially they said they wouldn't deliver as it was 25 miles awake but they have agreed as long as I pay £30ish for delivery they would deliver it for me, which I'm happy about x

I think you are being a bit harsh.

Just because she has asked to see the lowest quote does not mean she does not believe you.

I look at it as good business practice and one which many operate.

At least she sounds as if she is prepared to lower her price.

Sorry if I appear harsh, the tone of her email wasn't exactly what I would term as "prepared to lower her prices"
