In my experience TPFT is more expensive now than comprehensive cover due to less competition for that class of cover and it being viewed a bit 'dodgy' by insurers.
I've had quotes where TPFT is dearer or else only saves 0.1% or less on the comprehensive quote and bearing in mind you don't get windscreen cover with TPFT it definitely has not been worth it for me to go the TPFT only route.0 -
If you have an older car and would be happy with TP then I've found that getting a fully comp quote with a large excess can work out significantly cheaper.0

I've found that not only is TP usually more expensive than FC, but increasing the voluntary excess raises the premium, too.
(Early '40s, low risk postcode, low value car, clean record/licence)
