If Scottish Power has done this to you OP it is worth contacting energywatch and complaining about them. http://www.energywatch.org.uk/

Firstly for incorrectly informing you that National Grid Gas (formerly Transco) would share information like this and giving you the emergency number (it is the emergency number for a reason) , and for the fact they are trying to put a consumer on to a business rate.

I'm not cynical I'm realistic
