No matter what laptop you buy, it's more than likely not going to have anything more than a trial of the software you are looking for. There are alternatives that are free, just ask. Software also may be available free or at a small cost through your workplace or child's education, you really would have to check that out yourself.0

Are the ones in the link as good as or better than something like a Sony vaio?:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:0

A Chromebook might fit the bill using google docs for free, however storage may be a bit limited.0

The reputation of Sony as a builder of quality laptops has taken a big knock in the last few years, poor build quality, poor customer service, unreliable components being just a few complaints.
Their higher end products ie £600+ seem to be a bit better in those terms so buyer beware.
Cisco's first link to the Acer is a good value laptop that would work well as a family workhorse. The third one he linked to is a bit out of your stated price level but if you play around with the Dell configurator and / or searched out promotions, cash back deals you could get a very good specification within your budget.
Other very good brands to look out for include Asus, Lenovo and Samsung. I couldn't possibly recommend the lower end HP or Compaq laptops as again they seem to suffer huge reliability problems at around a year to 15 months sometimes sooner eg motherboard failures, screen failures, battery failures etc etc.0 -
