Is this really a virus?

I've just done my general regular virus scan using Avast! It's come back with about 30 of these variations:
nameofuser/downloads/install_flashplayer... insertnamehere

Is this really a virus or is Avast mistaken? Surely Flashplayer isn't a virus.

Flashplayer isnt itself. But can be used to install them. Or you have a fake download of Flashplayer.

As they are in your download folder where did you download them from?

Its easy for a site to flash an image saying click here to update flash and most users would accept it. The site could install anything it wanted then.

I don't know where the Flashplayer came from because it's only on my brother's username. I think he did some downloads the other week. I think I need to do some investigating...

Remove all flash player and download new when required .

"Error: Archive is password protected" ?

Don't worry about it. It just means Avast can't access the file to scan them.
