My brother in law proposed to my sister using a fasioned piece of tin foil....he went on to buy something beautiful but many years later and that tin foil ring still sits in her jewellery box to remind her of the proposal...to her its "priceless"

  • A placeholder ring is a delightful start & I hope is followed with a resounding Yes!

Spot on that "the jewellery quarter in Birmingham for ring shopping" - both engagement & wedding!

All the very best of luck & pop back to let us know?!
  • I think this is a great idea, If you fear it will take the surprise out of it i would surprise her by making a day of it. Make the whole day special, to most women its not just about the ring its about the memory of the day itself.
  • Aw good luck :)

My placeholder ring is from h samual, it is a cheaper ring .

This is exactly what I did. Got the ring from H Samuel.

I'm glad I did in the end. Whilst the style of ring my wife ended up choosing was as near as dammit what I would have chosen, she really enjoyed the whole experience and it's something I'm glad she could do rather than be 'stuck' with it if you see what I mean.
