Thanks, I have tried a number of them on google and they are ones that you need to download or they don't work properly. I just wondered if anyone had one they have used and know works well?

Currently on the free Zamzar service you can upload a maximum of 100 MB of data split between up to 5 different files.

I recently used unipdf to convert 175 separate docs and it worked flawlessly for me.

You need to download it but it's a small program just watch out for any bloatware during the installation or install "Unchecky" first.

You can always uninstall it after.

For speed on PDF files of less than 4MB I also use OnlineOCR.

There is a free (old) version of Adobe Acrobat pro - that still works on Win 7 (though NOT 8) - Which is worth trying
I don't have the URL to hand at the moment

it is not on-line though - don't know whether there is any reason for you needing on-line ?

I also use Zamzar.com, it can have some issues with complicated tables and lists but does its best. That said, the documents I am extracting weren't done in Word to start with, so that might be the root of the problem. But the result is very usable.
