As rizla king said, the debt has not been paid off
It has been Legally assigned to someone else and is still legally owed by the origional debtor.

Thank you!
It is a real eye opener isn't it? I have seen mention that even at debt of £15000 was bought for £95, but that is purely something I read, however they do like to 'hide' the Deed. I think the odd person that has managed to catch sight in court has been presented with a long list of so many bits of peoples data on one list, bought in bulk, but it is really disgusting this loophole remains. It is going to be a long hard process gaining 100,000 signatures so anyone with any good way of helping, very much appreciated

There are several angles to look at it from both debtors and anyone that doesn't owe money, but defo wrong ;-)0

Ha ha, well if they are unable to retrieve it back, it is nice of them ie the bank no longer has claim, although in rare cases it can be reversed. I understand there is a complete sale and a half and half, to enable the bank to assist DCA company.0

...with it being so morally wrong that unsecured debts, that people clearly can't pay, are sold for a pittance and that isn't even questioned in a court....
I think that you are completely wrong on this. It is right and proper that a debt can be assigned, and that this assignation does not reduce the amount owed, so I hope that even if this does get the number of signatures needed, that it is then treated as it should be by the government, i.e. ignored.0 -

So, to get this straight, the parasites are the ones who expect people to repay what they owe, not the people who borrow money and don't pay it back?
How does that work then?0 -

All right then, so I'm thick and uninformed, please educate me, perhaps by examples, of what happens if say, I have a debt which is passed to a DcA.
Then I can decide whether or not to sign. Clearly there are some strongly held opposing views, and I'm not sure I understand yet.
ThanksDebt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.
