Please sign official petition to stop DCAs/Debt purchasing companies from buying your data regarding unsecured debts from banks and credit card companies at pence in the pound to make vast profits and take people's homes, using the Statutory Demand and Bankruptcy route (where applicable).
Petition needs 100,000 genuine, true signatures, with your personal details completed (sorry I know this puts some off)...to be potentially comsidered to be heard by the GOVT.
Therefore sign and share and retweet everywhere to help get the required numbers. Thank you.
Note, as new to this forum, unable to add the link but if anyone wants to pop over to the official Govt. E-petitions site and search for "Stop debt purchasing" that should bring up a list and you'll find... STOP DEBT PURCHASING COMPANIES PROFITING AND/OR USING BANKRUPTCY WHERE THEY BUY UNSECURED TERMINATED DEBTS FOR PENCE IN THE POUND
the search via reference number didn't work, but if anyone wants to pick up the link and share for me, be much appreciated

I agree that companies that buy debts need to be brought to task over the use (or more to the point, miss-use) of insolvency laws.
Issuing SD's and following through with Bankruptcy where the debt is relatively small is not right.
There is one particular Debt Buyer that springs to mind **Cough**Lowell**Cough that seem to use SD's like they’re going out of fashion.
I’m not sure much can be done to stop them buying the debt in the first place though.
usually it says somewhere in the paperwork that the debt / account may be "assigned" to a third party.

Thank you! :-D
This is going to have been on people's minds for a long time and we are always against the odds. This 100, 000 signatures needed before it even gets looked at is major, but if we don't clutch at straws and try... they keep on succeeding.
I would hope that as it is an old law and as banks and tax are big government interests, along with it being so morally wrong that unsecured debts, that people clearly can't pay, are sold for a pittance and that isn't even questioned in a court.
I run along the lines of the bit in the law where it implies a right to see the actual Deed showing the amount paid, which somehow they wriggle out of showing in many cases, but how can it be legal, they claim it is a new 'implied' agreement, well then we didn't borrow the amount claimed and at the same time the amount written off by the banks, for which they declare to the Tax as a loss or to Insurance companies etc. I also insist that once terminated, the agreement is no more. We all strongly hate what is happening, but will enough people stand up even by this long shot and sign and put it out there....I hope enough do, but have seen expired petitions, where hardly anyone did sign.
I am assuring everyone, this was applied properly through the site and I am not out to steal details....LOL, I don't believe they will appear on my version, but I am not dodgy in any form. I appreciate the concern re. these type of forums being more private to protect from these companies that lurk, to read up...as some thing they do. Morals and principals, these DCAs are ruthless, there's more of us than them really, so why sit back?
Some people do like the challenge and hope they don't end up in court or bankrupt, whilst the rest are tormented, so unity is required...

Give me strength !
I will sign a petition that stops ill informed people setting up petitions that potentially allows a waste of public expenditure.0 -

They aren't paying it off. That is why it's a legal assignment rather than a payment towards the debt. Big difference.Still rolling rolling rolling......

Whatever way you look at it, it's paid off to the satisfaction of the original creditor. Maybe that would explain why Lowells once got shirty on the phone when I thanked them for paying off my debt.rizla_king wrote: »They aren't paying it off.
