Moving in with partner, how to protect value of current home?

    If you use the rental-income to cover your mortgage-payments and your partner only ever pays half of the rent for the property you will share, how could she argue that she's had any financial involvement and therefore a financial interest in it?

    My answer? DO NOT share the rental-income with someone who isn't and never has contributed to the mortgaged property.

    What do you mean that your G/F has never "officially/formally" lived in your property? Do I take this to mean that in reality she has, but has never paid you any rent/contributions towards your mortgage?

    In which case, if you don't share the rental-income on the mortgaged property and she proveably only pays half of the rent on the property you share with her, I cannot see how she could acquire a beneficial interest in your property.

    For the removal of doubt you obviously should seek professional advice, as things are and can be very different in Scottishland to the way they are in England & Wales.
