Hi All
I know this query is old hat and totally talked out untilthe cows come home and gone away again. But I would love to know how I go about claiming PPI which I know forcertain I have paid on credit cards I had a long time ago. This was resurrected last Friday night onMartin Lewis’s show.
I’ve had cards with MBNA, Halifax, Abbey Nat, Virgin,Barclays, Visa, Mastercard to name but a few and I know that I have been mis-soldPPI however as they are 10 years plus ago, I obviously do not have theirdetails. Can anyone advise as to how Imight investigate this?
I have looked through some thread discussions but there’s somuch to trawl though, so sorry for asking this.
I look forward to hearing from anyone.
Thanks as always for any help offered J

If you cannot find any paperwork for these closed accounts, you could firstly phone their customer helplines and see if they hold any information about you based on full name, DOB and addresses used when the accounts were active. Then send a SAR, see what that produces.0

Ok, trying to follow MSE advice as per http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/reclaim/ppi-loan-insurance#letmain
So as I have a vague idea who I have had credit cards in the past I phoned Barclays (whom I assume are the same as Barclaycard), saying that I believe that they missold me PPI on a card I had with them in the late 90s / early 2000s. They suggested that I write to them and gave me an address. I am now trying to locate a letter template - have looked for one but can only find form templates.
Can anyone advise where I might find this letter?
I look forward to your help.

How can you honestly state that you believe PPI was mis-sold if you aren't even sure if you had a credit card with that lender, let alone PPI?I have a vague idea who I have had credit cards in the past I phoned Barclays (whom I assume are the same as Barclaycard), saying that I believe that they missold me PPI
The letter you want to send is a Subject Access Request (SAR) and will cost £10 for every lender you think may have mis-sold you PPI.
Here's the template;

Ok thanks for the link to the SAR template but please . . . . less of the judgemental tone. In all honesty I'd prefer to not pay the £10 as I know for certain that I had PPI policies with several credit cards from the late 90s until early 2000s just can't remember which ones and with the policies being so old and closed is it worth paying £10 to find out that they do not have my records anymore - trying to weigh it all up . . . . pros and cons. I am also trying to find stories from folk on this website with similar stories to see if this process is even worth my while.
Thanks again.0 -
It's your choice whether to pay for SAR letters, but I don't see how you can make any robust complaint(s) otherwise without any documentation or even definite proof that you had any PPI.I'd prefer to not pay the £10 as I know for certain that I had PPI policies with several credit cards from the late 90s until early 2000s just can't remember which ones0 -

Which is the reason why I would like to know how others have done it - the others being the success stories I have been inspired by which you have accused me of spamming . . .0 -
Others have "done" it by having robust complaints with accompanying documentary evidence. Since you currently have neither of these, no amount of asking others will provide them. Send the SAR letters if you want any success, otherwise give up now.Which is the reason why I would like to know how others have done it -0
