Hi All
Hope your well?
Hoping you can help, I recently moved to Birmingham from Manchester. The house I have bought needs some work doing but am really struggling to find good tradesmen.
I always used recommended trade in Manchester but not knowing so many folk in Birmingham am struggling here. I used myBuilder and found a decent damp proof guy (but since completion struggling to get the insurance backed guarantee from him).
I had three roofing companies quote for work to roof. Trying to get the two that had best ratings out to do the work is proving near impossible. They were the most expensive two I might add not the cheapest.
Then recently asked a few guys for quotes for putting electrical points in garden. One said he wasnt interested when he arrived and the other quoted me 600 for connecting only on basis I supply all materials and dig the trenches for the wire to run down. He is know ringing and knocking at least twice a week wanting a start date !
Any ideas would be greatly received.
Thanks

Try these:
http://www.buywithconfidence.gov.uk
http://www.trustmark.org.uk
I used an electrician from the Buy with Confidence scheme and he left a feedback card for me to complete, which goes direct to Trading Standards.
My local area Age Concern also has a list of traders they've vetted.0 -
I've recently started using my local

after a recommendation from my neighbour.
Unfortunately a bit of a victim of it's success. All those I've contacted are that busy..:wall:0 -
