OS Daily Thread Monday 10th February

Options
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

  • Good morning everyone :)

Feels really chilly this morning but looks damp rather than icy, so fingers crossed for an easy journey.

Elsewhere the weather just seems to get worse and I hope no-one here is personally affected by the flooding forecast over the next few days. My friend's family who live in Worcester are pretty much cut off now and are being told it is likely to be weeks, rather than days before it is sorted.

Thai curry in slow cooker for dinner, will just need to cook some rice when we get home. Visitors at work all week, so on free catering which is nice and saves a bit of money.

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day :)

    Morning everyone

Now getting light here, very cloudy, and dull, but dry underfoot after yesterday’s blustery conditions, the wind has died away.

DH up and gone to work early but not stupid early.

Lunch yesterday was roast pork, roasties, mash, cauli/broc cheese, carrots, Yorkshires and gravy, LO desserts for those that had room.
Dinner tonight will be using up LO’s from Saturday night – I have loads of cooked new potatoes – so will saute them off with some mushrooms in a pan than transfer to a baking dish and sprinkle with grated cheese and a few breadcrumbs and put in the oven for 10 mins to melt the cheese – so it’s a potato bake, will serve this with frankfurter sausages, LO salads, coleslaw etc, again LO desserts for those that want one. Having so many LO’s has meant I can play about with the menu a bit.

Back to work today for me, am expecting a manic Monday – but we’ll see, I worked on Saturday and it wasn’t too bad at all – but we can never tell from 1 day to the next how busy we will be!

Yesterday I managed to be quite organised – I got up and got cracking with getting the veg etc prepped etc for lunch – we needed to visit the outlaws and my parents and call into to car accessory shop for a new satnav cable for DH. I’d put the meat in the oven and set the timer so on the way back we could stop off to get DH’s new satnav cable, the town was gridlocked with traffic, so DH thought he’d take another route and diverted off and that was even worse as drivers were being silly and finding themselves in a queue were just pulling out from the inside lane across 2 lanes of traffic to get to a right hand exit to avoid the traffic – anyway we realised early that there was a problem so we got into the right hand lane to take the exit early and managed to get home after stopping to buy the cable. They have been doing roadworks along that route but it was a nightmare and in 1 direction the traffic wasn’t even moving. Thought the meat was going to be ruined but it was all ok, and just got on with cooking the remainder of the meal. Hoping for a smooth journey into work this morning!

    Keep safe and well x

    Morning everybody,
Lovely day here with a sharp frost so I should have a nice walk in the fields with Lyla in a mo,might need my hat though.

I havent done a shop this weekend so the fridge is looking a bit bare, plenty in the freezer though so will rustle something up for tea from there, and try and hold out on the shopping as long as poss.I've got plenty veg and spuds it's just yogurts/cheese etc.

I've got a hankering to do some sewing this afternoon, not done any for ages-might try a little skirt for DGD-I have some black and white spotty corduroy and some wide elastic to make a waistband,I saw some similar last week.

Right better take the beast out :rotfl:Hope you all have something nice in your day x

    Morning all,

grey here but still dry so I am going to make a dash for the post office while it is still dry.

Laptop seems to have gone on mouse strike: also, the mouse is dead again, no lights etc. 3 in 4 months suggests a problem - I tried the mouse from the main computer, but it didn't work even though it's light was on. So I am freezing in the back room, sitting up at the desk not comfy in my chair with the lappy. Oh dear - def a First World problem!

Today - the last of the marking and some quick cleaning after my walk over to the PO. I also need to try a few SW recipes, which will keep me warm while they cook and I do more sorting out in the kitchen.

Time to get moving before the rain comes back!

Have as much fun as you can x

    Hi everyone,

A busy week in store for me with the funeral on Thursday.

Trying to stave off (another) family row. Big brother wants to do a tribute at the funeral but the rest of us don't want that - we feel it's hypocritical considering he didn't visit mum at all in the last year and rarely rang her.

We had a lovely time with DD in London. Strangers on a Train was very good and we thoroughly enjoyed the Strictly live show, contrary to expectations. Natalie and Artem did the jive they couldn't do on the show because of her illness.

Hope you all have a good day.
  • Morning!

Rainy and cold here. Was going to go to Asda and then to see Dad, but decided to order from Mr T instead. I'll take his stuff up on Weds.:T

DD and DGC came over yesterday for dinner. SIL had a hangover, and didn't think he could drive!:rotfl: Sent his dinner home with DD.

OH is back in Dorset this week to organise MIL funeral.

Crumpets for brekkie, stir fry for dinner.

Have a good day and stay warm and dry

    Morning all,

well for the first day in ages I feel well. I seem to have been ill for so long. First a sore throat, then ear infection and generally felt unwell due to a high temperature that went with it.

Looks like getting stuck into the chores before I lose the will to live as there are many.

    [strike]Vacuum upstairs[/strike]
    [strike]Dust upstairs[/strike]
    [strike]Vacuum stairs[/strike]
    [strike]Vacuum downstairs[/strike]
    [strike]Dust downstairs[/strike]
    [strike]Kitchen floor[/strike]
    Laundry (got loads)
Tea (hmm not sure what yet)
    [strike]Bath[/strike]

Ive got loads going round in my head. Such as, eldest son has come back on Facebook. His ex is on my friends list. I'm just waiting for world war 3 to kick off between them. Both of them are as bad as eachother and theres an 11 year old boy between them.

Youngest son. It seems like his idea of dating is for the girl to come to our house and they shut themselves in his bedroom. In my head I'm thinking, if they are going to have sex, I'd rather them do it somewhere else as I feel uncomfortable. Hubby is as paranoid as I am. We've never gone through this before with the other kids.

Please tell me I'm not the only one with a screwed up family!

Anyway, best get on before I take root (id rather take root if truth be told).

    Have a good day all,
