I quite enjoy the threads where a slight misunderstanding or misinterpretation rapidly leads to a right slanging match, questioning of heritage and mental competence.0 -

I use my credit card abroad, mainly to pay for bigger purchases like tourist attractions, but also occasionally for cash. I've also done very occasional withdrawals at home for impulse buys. That facility is one of the reasons for having a credit card in my view.

A banker is someone who will lend you an umbrella when it's not raining.
The fact that you need or particularly want it makes you exactly the sort of responsibile person they'd want to lend to.
I agree that for some of us it's just a sensible (and safe) way to access cash abroad.
The problem is that for some it can be a sign of financial distress.
In clear cut cases I guess it's easy, but there has to be some middle groud where it might be a little less clear,0
