Hi
For the past month or so my pc screen will partially and intermittently go black.
Not the whole screen, just a portion say a third or so. As I run my mouse over the black areas rectangles of the black area will return to normal so after a few seconds or so it's back to normal.
But I can't understand what's causing this. Any ideas?
thanks

Possibly a failing LCD panel, or video driver chip. Or connector cable between LCD panel and motherboard (if this is a laptop).
Really sounds more hardware-related than software related.0 -

Strange thing is that the black areas/rectangles seem to relate to specific areas of a web page or bit of software. So for example on a web page say google chrome the top portion of the screen will go back and as you roll over with your mouse each tab will come back one by one. Similarly when software is open the black areas seem to relate to specific portions like side bars or menu areas or other distinct portions of the screen.

Delete and reinstall your video drivers to try and isolate whether it is a software issue. Have you installed new drivers recently? Or are using Beta drivers?0
