Can anyone here tell me if it is possible to find out a list of donors to a registered charity? I'm not thinking of individuals making small contributions, but major donors.

Probably not individuals but I'd expect corporate donors to be shown in tje charity's annual accounts.anotherbob wrote: »Can anyone here tell me if it is possible to find out a list of donors to a registered charity? There is no requirement for charities to list their donors, but many do thank their biggest supporters in the Annual Review. This includes corporates, charitable trusts and foundations and major individual donors. This information may also be available on the website. Many charities have a policy of listing names only and not the amount; some have bands e.g. over £1,000, over £20,000.
Grants received are often listed in the Trustees' Annual Report (TAR) which is published on the Charity Commission Register, but only for charities whose income exceeds a certain amount.
Note that some grants are made by individuals on condition that their name is not publicised.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

Thank you for your reponses. I found the charity's balance sheet but unfortunately donors' identities are not given, just generic terms like "partner" and "support".0

I am interested in why you are trying to find this information!

I have concerns about a local charity which works among young people and I am trying to find out more about its aims and its backers.0 -
'Local' suggests small to me, which means little information may be available.
Have you looked at the CC Register? I can help with that if necessary.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

It is difficult to advise without more info.
I would look at the trustee list and Google them: they may also be company directors. I would look to see if a limited company is associated with the charity.
I would Google the Postcode.
I would look at the TARs if any to see how much income they get and how much is going to the cause.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?

I have just noticed that at the top of the Balance Sheet their is the number of a registered company. However I understand one has to pay to look up details of registered companies.0 -
There is a lot of free information about limited companies available online: Dellam is a good website. Companies House is another source.
You may be required to pay for certain documents though.
You could always give more info. in a PM... this sort of investigation has been made on MSE many times in the past.Who having known the diamond will concern himself with glass?
