Can you claim unplanned overdraft charges from 2001

Hi I am hoping you can help advise me on whether I should contact my bank and reclaim ?
My story..
I was 18 and in a mentally abusive relationship .. My partner decided to use my cheque book to buy things without me knowing.. And without my bank card .. Spending £600
I couldn't afford this and I had no overdraft with the bank but i got a statement advising I was 600 overdrawn and was facing charges of 35quid daily and other charges 5quid every 2 weeks and another 10 a month.. Within a shirt space of time and now single I got statement advising I was overdrawn £1800 ... A good 100 being charges!
I went to Lloyd's and was told to explain why I had spent the cheques when I didnt have the funds to pay for it ... Then told to hand over my card and the lady cut it in half ...advising no more charges will be added but I would now need to pay it off.. All this at the front desk where people waiting in line watched... I was so embarrassed I didn't argue and walked out red faced ...
I carried on working in my part time sales job earning about £72 quid a week .. I went to the bank to ask for some money and was told all earnings would go towards paying back the debt i incurred .. Stressed and having to walk 8 miles a day to work for nothing , unable to buy anything for myself I spent 9 months trying to pay it off ..
Eventually breaking down to my mum and her the. Paying the full debt left (£600) .. Once paid I got a new card but for ten years had a 'red flag' on my account making me unable to claim any credit at all
Even though for the last 8years I have been in constant full time work ..
I just want to know if maybe I have a case to claim at all ?
Thanks any advise welcome

I can't see anything in your post that might lead to the Bank making a refund of any charges. To be refunded at all, you need to be in CURRENT financial hardship and, if the Bank agree you are in financial hardship, they might typically offer a refund of payments made in the last six months.Suzegossipgirl wrote: »I just want to know if maybe I have a case to claim at all ?
The Bank won't consider any request for refunding historical bank charges and certainly nothing from 13 years ago.
