Scottish Power Miss-Selling Energy Prices Compo

I have not yet received my compensation from Scottish Power for miss-selling energy to me.I thought we should have at least received this compo last year.
As anyone received it yet or is Scottish Power deliberately withholding it from us so we cannot change to a different energy suppliers?

Did you get a letter to say you would definitely be getting the compensation? I believe only those who had the warm home discount last year were compensated. My Mum did,and has been paid the credit into her account.

No! I read that it was for thoughs ppl who had a Scottish Power salesman come to your home and tell you about their prices which was miss-leading,false information.

Yes that IS what it was for.But as usual Scottish Power got it wrong and though Mum signed up with SP of her own free will(and at my suggestion) because at that time they WERE a good company, she got i think about £52 back due to having the warm home discount early last year.

Worth looking into but it was about October she got it.Good luck.

NB Just looked it up and found this short piece from Saga magazine last year.

Scottish Power is sending an extra £50 to the 140,000 customers who got the warm home discount last winter as a punishment by the regulator Ofgem for mis-selling its services.

So it is not looking good I'm afraid.Totally unfair,I agree.

But i have found this also
http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/news/utilities/2013/10/scottish-power-to-pay-85m-for-mis-selling--are-you-due-a-share so there is a chance you can appeal.

And according to this, there was 2 separate issues, the main one being the mis selling.the other paynment that my Mum got was what was left over i assume and that went to those who needed help with bills and got it though that scheme.

I had a Scottish Power salesman who told me a bunch of lies when selling me their energy.I will be appeal if they refuse me compensation.

Foglet,is SP not cheap anymore bc i have been too busy to look for cheaper energy.Do you know a cheaper one than SP?

You will not receive a penny directly for that. All these fines are never given out to the victims of the crimes - they are only given to customers who are already in a privileged position.

If you want compensation then you will have to prosecute them personally through small claims court.

Prosecute? Not a chance. It would be a small claim (civil) action. No requirement for any prosecutor to be involved.

You would also need explicit proof of mis-selling, pointing at a newspaper story is not sufficient.

The only way you can find that out is to do a comparison. It could save you quite a bit so it is worth taking the time to compare. It all depends on where you live as to how much ,because prices can vary quite a lot which i find somewhat puzzling.
