Fast Hi Spec PC not for Games but for video

Options
Definately recommend Intel over AMD for video editing. I have a Dell E520 core 2 duo. Try the E-value code D07E03 on the Dell home web page. Plenty of processing power there. Upgrade to the E6420 processor. Downgrade to 1yr collect and return. comes in at just under £500 (£499.44 inc delivery). If you want to edit video then add the firewire card for a fiver. The included widescreen monitor is pretty good too.

Make sure you have loads of RAM (at least 2GB), and I would definitely buy a pair of identical hard drives and put them in a RAID 0 (striping) array. This will drastically speed up access to large video files.

RAID 0 doubles the chance of data failure (if either hard disk dies, you lose everything), so make sure you have a good backup plan.

Those don't look too bad at all. If you can bear a few secs more loading/conversion times Ramz's C521 suggestion represents excellent value (choose 'Collect & Return, 1 Year Service only' under Hardware Support to bring the original price down).

If you need more RAM, buy it from elsewhere though - £94 for 2Gb extra is a complete rip-off - see here for example (stick with OCZ/Crucial/Kingston/similar good brands).

There's too little to choose between the CPUs (click here for a comparison), so stick with the AMDs for better value. G

Agree about the ram, although they are probably swapping 2x1gb sticks for 2x2gb sticks there. But the cpus, whilst there is little difference at stock speeds the core II duo is v easy to overclock and you can get an extra 20%+ out of it with little effort. So would compare more like
