How long for seller to respond to enquiries?

Our solicitor sent some enquiries to the seller's solicitor nearly 2 weeks ago now, and we have only had a response to 1 of the 8 enquiries. My solicitor seems to think there is no urgency in chasing these up as "we are still so early on in the process" even though everything else is done and we are ready to exchange. Both ourselves and the sellers are chain free. Sometimes I feel like the solicitors won't hurry up just because they think it is moving quickly enough, and they expect all sales to take 8+ weeks to go through, even if everything is done!
The sellers have already had one sale fall through and told us and the estate agent that they were wanting to go as soon as possible. They originally planned to be out of their house in December.
Is it reasonable to contact the estate agent and ask them to prompt the seller, or at least try and find out how much longer they will take?

Not at all unreasonable. Go ahead and do it. The estate is getting paid by the vendor partly to keep this deal together.0

I did the same thing..
Rang my solicitor - got the response "We have send the queries and awaiting response"
Waited a few days - then rang up the estate agent and asked him to chase up.
Bingo !!! - he contacted the sellers solicitors and the seller - they are sending the replies .“Don't raise your voice, improve your argument." - Desmond Tutu

I hate it! If everything is in place why keep telling me we are early on in the process and there is no rush?! I feel they just expect it will always take ages so they don't hurry at all.
Thanks to everyone else. Sounds promising so will ring the estate agent tomorrow.0 -

A good EA will facilitate the transaction. As they are ones the who get paid once the transaction completes.0 -
I responded to the enquiries from our buyers in 30 minutes of me having received the email from our solicitors. Thankfully there was nothing complicated, but I just hope the solicitors passed the info on fairly quick too!0
