I'm filling in a PPI claim for my wife. At the time she was employed by the NHS. I need to find out what the standard sick pay and redundancy payments are in the NHS. Can anyone help? Thanks.

Sick pay and redundancy in the NHS depend on how long she has worked in the NHS and what sort of contract she has. Most have sick leave of 6 months full pay then 6 months half pay after 5 years
Redundancy is one months pay per year worked to max of 24 months - there is a qualifying period, not sure what.
I have been at risk of redundancy so often in the NHS s I should know but somehow they always find me another job..
Have found sick pay table:
Time frame Benefit
During the first year of service One month’s full pay and (after completing four months’ service) two month’s half pay
During the second year of service Two months’ full pay and two months’ half pay
During the third year of service Four months’ full pay and four months’ half pay.
During the fourth and fifth years of service Five months’ full pay and five months’ half pay.
After completing five years service Six months’ full pay and six months’ half pay.0 -
Contact HR/Personnel (or whatever they call themselves these days) at the Trust your wife worked for the current regulations/regulations when your wife was employed in the NHS.
When I worked for the NHS, both sick pay and redundancy pay were VERY generous, the latter, presumably, because they never thought they'd ever have to make anyone redundant. However, I strongly suspect that NHS terms and conditions have changed for the worse since then.'Never argue with an idiot. They will only bring you down to their level and beat you with experience.' What type of PPI is it? Whilst long employer benefits are a good reason with loan and credit card PPI, it is not a good reason with MPPI (the FOS have rejected complainst using that reason with MPPI).I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only. They are not financial advice and you should not treat them as such. If you feel an area discussed may be relevant to you, then please seek advice from an Independent Financial Adviser local to you.0

Thanks for the replies. It's for a credit card PPI. I've made the case that my wife did not need this cover as she had very good employer sick/redundancy cover, I have a decent job with good sick/redundancy cover and we had a decent level of savings at the time. Have I got the right end of the stick?0
