Hi. Back for a brief visit! Just had a letter from B card telling me my account is being moved to PRa group. I think they have defaulted me and sent my account elsewhere. Wasn't expecting that. Anyone have any experience with PrA?
    Thanks

    Hi HB :).

I hope you are enjoying the summer.

Yeah......the PRAt Group. Mrs B's MBNA account was sold to them and so was my Lloyds CC debt. They were called Aktiv Krapital for those who like a little debt collection with a Skandinavian flavour :rotfl:!!!

They are no trouble at all but if we're honest, no DCA's are much trouble. When you have been with them a while they will probably start to send you letters offering discounted settlements. I received a few offering a settlement of 75% ie 25% discount but I haven't settled either debt with them yet. Earlier in the year when I had some money I made a very cheeky offer to them and they replied with an offer of 65% settlement ie 35% discount. Interestingly they will let you pay the reduced settlement over 3 months which I think IS very useful when I get around to them - I wonder if that is of use to you HB?

Basically I got bigger discounts with Lower, Wuscot, Sparks & Mencer so that's where my money went :).

Let us know how things are going.

  • Thanks, Brogden. I'm biding my time at the moment, paying my regular amounts and seeing how things go.

  • Think I'm going to start testing the water with some settlement offers. Wish me luck.

  • Well, I'm not happy. One of the predators wants to go legal and slap a charging order on the house! The only way to avoid it is to raise monthly payments to 1.7% of the total owing! I'm feeling really pressured by this development. I've always paid up, contacted them regularly and now they do this! I really want rid of them, but feel they will hold out for an offer of payment close to the total owed, especially as they now know I will do anything to avoid any litigation. I can't really afford the higher payments, but don't think I've got an option, but to pay it. They have very carefully said they are not asking me for that amount, but that if I want them to take away the threat of litigation, I have to pay it going forward. They are the only one not to default the account as well. Fuming.
