i went through the process of claiming ppi, through the financial ombudsman who then passed my claim on, i have now recieved a letter from that company saying they are demanding 25% of my outcome as i signed an agreement. I didnt sign the agreement as i still have it in my house, as i wasnt prepared to pay this, as i thought through ombudsman it was free. can anyone suggest what i can do?

Did you sign a contract with the company?
If you can prove you didn't, or that the original complaint wasn't made by the company, you're ok and don't have to pay.
If you did, or it was, then you do.Non me fac calcitrare tuum culi0 -
Since the Ombudsman service is free to complainants, you clearly went through a Claims Management Company rather than the Ombudsman. FOS would not have "passed on" your complaint to anyone other than the financial institution who sold you the PPI.rachelgreen wrote: »i went through the process of claiming ppi, through the financial ombudsman
You seem rather confused about events, did you write your own complaint or fill in the forms which the claims company sent you? If you did fill in their form, did you sign before sending it back to them?0 -

Sounds like you have been scammed.
The FOS does not pass your complaints on to claims companies. However, as has been on the news again just this week, there are many people getting caught out by look-a-like companies that people get confused with.I didnt sign the agreement as i still have it in my house, as i wasnt prepared to pay this, as i thought through ombudsman it was free.
If you didnt sign it then how was the complaint made? The complaint would need to be signed and sent in. Did you do that or did the CMC?I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
