Reduction of 'Green' charges on fixed price fuel bills

Given the reduction/abolition of 'Green charges' on our energy bills, wondering if anyone else has pursued this issue with their energy company where they're on a fixed-price tarrif? I've been in touch with Scottish Power who confirm the reduction for some accounts but not for mine which is Fixed-price to April 2015. Whilst I appreciate the 'gamble' in that energy prices can go down as well as up (not often the former I grant you) I feel this is different and not beyond the wit of the companies to equally benefit those in my position. Any thoughts on this, or how it might be pursued?

  • Whilst it's commendable that some companies are passing on the tax cut, I see no reason why they should be compelled to. If you take out a fixed rate mortgage, should you pay less if the BoE reduce the base rate? If you buy currency 3 weeks before your holiday and the pound then strengthens, should you be able to return to the vendor and get more euros?
As always, you can invoke the complaints procedure; if they don't satisfy your complaint within 8 weeks you can take it to the regulator, and if you still get nothing there's the small claims court. I don't fancy your chances though.

I'm with British Gas on a fixed deal, they reduced my price at the end of January.
