Clean p/x to clear

Hello,
found a car that looks reasonable but has this in the heading.
I know what "P/X TO CLEAR" means, but why CLEAN ?
Does it mean it is not a parts exchange?
Thanks in advance

It doesn't really mean anything though to dealers it means no obvious faults, like crash damage. It could also literally mean that it has been valeted or at least is not filthy. If it is from a dealer then SOGA still applies no matter what they say.

"clean" as in "in good condition"

No, it doesnt necessarily mean he wont take a "part" exchange.

Be wary of traders doing this - they can use this to imply they are not giving a warranty with the car, and that it is "sold as seen".

Is it something they wouldnt normally sell?

If its a garage where most cars are expensive and this is a bit cheap/older than the stuff they normally sell.
It maybe a part-ex thats in better condition than average cars for its age. So instead of throwing it in the auction decided to sell it on the forecourt instead.

As mentioned though. If they have other cars in this price range it maybe an excuse for selling something with faults.

  • First of all thanks for your replies.
Off to see the car now.
TBH most of the cars they sell are around that price, we're looking for a cheap one so 2k is our max budget, this one looks like a part exchange car, maybe a little bit above the others.
    Fingers crossed.

If the other cars are similar value or cheaper i would wonder if someone needed to trade it in because of problems?

They are good cars; good luck with it.
  • Oh yes, a well looked after Corolla is as good a bet as you'll find, on a par with Civic pre '06.
