  • Afternoon all,

I've been awol from the daily thread for some time but I'm hoping to ease myself back in!

We took delivery of our new cooker yesterday but I have to wait until Thursday for it to get connected! :( it's not so bad but does mean that this week whilst bf is away at camp I only have the combination microwave and foreman grill to cook with (we've removed the electric hob as the cooker is going in its place - two ovens and a hob :-) ) going to hopefully have the following for my evening meals:
Tonight: savoury mince from fridge and mash
Monday: breaded turkey steak and chips
    Tuesday: lasagne
Wednesday - bf will be back so I'm thinking chicken wrapped in bacon, topped with cheese served with chips

    Lunches this week at work:
Monday: soup and toasted sandwich thin
    Tuesday: turkey steak and salad
    Wednesday: soup from the freezer
    Thursday: chicken and salad
Friday: home early for an appointment so will eat here with bf

Have been trying to find a thread about the different evening meals people eat each month but I'm failing. Basically trying to get a rough idea of how many different meals people eat regularly; is it often the same meals in different orders or is it 30 different meals through the month?
Bf is quite picky (but getting better...slowly) so we often end up cycling through the same few meals - sometimes changing the protein source (e.g. turkey instead of chicken with our salad) or side but now we have the cooker I'm hoping to branch out a little and add things like casseroles, pies and roasts.
Currently I have a list of about 25meals/variations (some are unique, others are beef casserole then chicken casserole etc) and was wondering if that's about standard? Its a mix of hearty homemade classics and more 'convenience' type foods (e.g breaded scampi/pizza/ chicken kievs)

Anyone know of an existing thread?

  • Good afternoon all,
Stopped raining here but still quite windy.
Having a lazy afternoon as hubby has just gone to bed as he has work tonight. Have washed up the dinner things and had a tidy round. Washing is on the airer. Now enjoying a cuppa on my own, lovely.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

  • Lovely to see you back Moorhen :hello:

    Welcome Timetochange :hello:

Not much doing here today, I have caught up with the washing and it is drying on the line, still very cool here though.

DD has just got back in from the shops and said that she spotted a little cat that had been run over and killed, someone had layed it on the grass verge it has really upset her :( I hope that the owner finds it and takes it away tonight because we have four schools around here, one is special needs, two are lower and one middle school, it will really affect the children if they see the poor little thing.

Also had some upsetting news yesterday, friends of ours are divorcing after 30 years of marriage It came as quite a shock to us :(

On the plus side DH was given a huge bowl of fruit as a thank you for helping out the local Amdram club, it is really good quality and we have polished off half a bowl already :D

Doing roast beef and all the trimmings for dinner apart from DD who has gone off quorn and just wants the veggies, yorkshire puds and gravy, she quite enjoys that.

Need to go to town tomorrow and get some money out of the bank for diesel and lots of pound coins for hospital parking next week

Must go and get the washing in

    Afternoon all,

So it's been quite sunny today but very windy.

DH had to look at a job in Folkstone this morning so we took a drive down and I had a nose around the shops while he was there. It was fabulous to see the sea. We then drove around the coast to a little village where we had a cream tea. Yummy. Sad to see so much water around, still I suppose it is the marshes.

Not sure what is for dinner tonight. I'm sure we will throw something together.
  • Hello and welcome to Timetochange2014 and welcome back to Moorhen :hello:

There seems to be a few regular faces missing recently. has anyone seen Judi or Dumpling? And I don't think I have seen monnagran for ages.

I now have shorter tidier hair and a meal plan for the week. Just need to go and cook some of it now :o

    Hi all,

Back from the christening- 4 children were baptised so the church was full. The vicar did a valiant job as there were loads of children there and it wasn't quiet:rotfl:The 'do' afterwards was held in the local conny club and it was heaving. There was face painting, and DGD was beside herself with excitement when Peppa pig arrived :D so she had a really good time. The buffet disappeared very swiftly- I didnt get a lot cos I was holding DGS.D H brought me a plate but a lot had gone already-I had to fill up on cake:)

I feel tired now, woke before 6 this morning, very annoying when I could have had a lie in  Anyway I finished another book on my ereader then got up and took the pup out without disturbing DH.He's just making a ham omelette for tea so better go.Have a good evening x
