OS Daily Thread Sunday 9th February
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

Morning all,

Up early as off to work soon, day off tomorrow !! cant wait I think it will be quiet as the weather keeps people away. Been raining heavily all night stopped now but its very windy.

OH had a good clear up yesterday and hovered right through the house. so its looking good, washing is pretty much up to date. Dinner tonight is something with chicken legs, its a bit like ready steady cook here, I get things out of the freezer and ask OH to make dinner with them its a surprise what I will come home to tonight :rotfl:

Morning Redruby and all who follow,

    Snoozer, Hilstep, Molly Hugs

LW Glad you were there to look after those dogs last minute.

Have been MIA for quite a while as we have had a visit from the dreaded Ofsted. Result not official for 2 weeks but we did really well.
I am so relieved that it is all over, we have been expecting them for the last year and everyone at work was so stressed about it.

I am off to the spa with my best friend for the day today and I am really looking forward to it.

Stay safe all of you in the wet and windy south west.

    Have a lovely day everyone.:)

    Morning everyone

Had another much better night’s sleep again last night – went to bed after everyone had left at nearly midnight – and was feeling weary, got straight to sleep as soon as I got in to bed. The evening was lovely and good to catch up with everyone, food was eaten and enjoyed – some leftovers but luckily only bits that we can either eat cold or reheat safely – all the hot picky bits that I wouldn’t reheat got eaten. There’s apple pie, cheesecake and chocolate gateau left and also a good quantity of wine, beer, juices etc – so now have a good stock for the coming weeks. Will adjust the menu plan to accommodate the leftovers so nothing gets thrown away.

DH, DS2 and myself now up and enjoying a cuppa.

Yesterday turned out to be a beautiful bright sunny day with clear skies right into the afternoon but then clouded over but it was very windy which got worse through the day. It’s drying up underfoot but still very windy this morning and DH said he could hear the wind in the night. The forecast says the wind should start to ease off here later today.
Today will just be a chilled lazy day – I remembered to get the pork out of the freezer to defrost – so will do a roast with all the trimmings later. DH said yesterday can we go to the well known car accessories shop this morning because the lead for his satnav is falling apart and he needs a replacement – hopefully they will have 1 in stock and it won’t be too expensive. He wants to drop in on the outlaws and my parents – if they’re home – so don’t want to be too late back otherwise lunch is halfway through the afternoon and they all moan!

Work wasn’t too bad for either of us yesterday – so we just chilled and I started getting ready for last night, was lovely to do it at a leisurely pace and not be stressed/under pressure – the people that visited last night are our close friends – so we all feel comfortable with each other and anyone would help the other without a thought, nobody needs to try and impress anyone else.

Have a peaceful Sunday everyone x

    Keep safe and well x

I feel really cheerful this morning as I achieved such a lot yesterday & I'm still standing, lol. Today I need to do some ironing & cook lunch but that's all.
DD is finally beginning to feel better, which is a relief & mum-to-be DD is ok too.
I'm taking my camera to work on Monday to take photo's of some things that are causing me problems, these will be added to my folder along with my character assassination & other notes and emails etc.
    Time for another cuppa.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Hugs Hester

    Morning all

It's still wet and very windy , will it ever subside? its mild up in Yorkshire compared to down south , it must be terrible down there :(

Not much planned for today , I've managed to be ill on my week off work but am recovered enough to go back to work tomorrow Sod's law

Cat and piggies are fed and watered , birds have seed , water and bacon fat . Just me to feed now .
The cat has virtually become a house cat now, she just goes out for a wee and then she's back curled up on DHs knee or in a warm spot somewhere, what a life :D

Have a good day everyone xx

    Morning all,
What a long night! Wind and rain was awful. Cat came in four times, I think he was scared:eek:
Had a full english this morning. We usually have something cooked on Sundays, but not the lot, made a change!:rotfl:

Pork chops for dinner. DD should be over later. Someone has hacked her email and facebook account so she needs to sort that out.
Just paid my years rental on my phone saving myself £54.:T

I cancelled my Sky last year, and now quidco are offering half price for six months, £120 cashback and a £50 Boots voucher, maybe I'll look into it again.

OH back to his mum's tonight to sort things out.
    Enjoy today.

  • Good Morning all I had an early night last night and actually slept for a good 7 hours (miracle for me as I sleep in fits and starts)
I feel so much brighter for having a good nights sleep though.
DD is coming this morning for her weekly coffeefest and sunday brunch
I am also baking this morning, no rain as yet and a strange yellow light in the sky (Oh Yeeeess its the sun:):) )
Just stripped and changed the bed so full of vim and vigour after my good nights rest :):)
Hope you all have a good day today and <<hugs>> to the poorlies or sad
    Cheers chums

  • Good morning everyone :)

Been up for a while and the first lot of washing is drying and towels and bathmats are now in the washing machine. Weather is awful so tumble drier is on ….. again :(

Have just parcelled up an Amazon book to drop off at the courier point today. Had a discount code for MyHermes so works out at £3.12 as opposed to Royal Mail £6.70. No contest!

Am having my hair cut today. I normally do it myself but it does need some serious sorting out and managed to get a 50% off voucher though am still reluctant to spend the money on myself.

Spicy chicken on ciabatta tonight, will make some coleslaw to go with it. Then need to do the meal plan for the week and check out the fridge, freezer and cupboards. Will have very little time next week so need to be organised. Me organised, yeah right!

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day :)

  • Hi all,

I'm popping my old style cherry today :)

We're getting ourselves in order and so feeling bright and positive.

On today's agenda is lunch with the inlaws (their treat) and sitting down to do our weekly meal plan later on this afternoon. Lots of veggie meals this week as using up the freezer batches of lentil curries and bean goulash

    Happy Sunday x
