Total cost of our wedding in 1981 was £30.28. That's £30 to the Registry Office, and 28p for the two jam donuts which constituted our wedding breakfast. One of the two witnesses kindly gave us a bottle of plonk, which we shared with them sitting on the wall outside the RO (he'd thought to bring four plastic cups). My lovely bride wore one of my white shirts, her jeans, a pair of knickers and a pair of plimsolls. Afterwards, we retired to my flat to consummate the marriage and then we re-opened the shop ... :)

30+ years later, one of the nicest weddings I photographed was at Chelsea Register Office. The groom wore his new office suit, the bride wore a party frock with a new pair of shoes, and the witnesses were two Chelsea Pensioners. The happy couple then headed to the nearest pub, before riding off into the sunset (so to speak) in a black cab ...
    We're all doomed
