Payment Shield

Hi, am new to the forum and looking for some advice.
My partner has a payment shield insurance policy and has paid into it for 14 years and never used it.
He was told by his estate agency he would not get a mortgage without the policy as he was an agency worker at the time.
We have have concerns about payment shield. My partner didn't want the policy and was forced into buying it. He has paid nearly £5000 and we are not sure if he is entitled to a refund.
If anyone can offer advice we would be very grateful. For example we are not sure if he was even entitled to it as an agency worker?
Thank you for any advice

its good to hear that he hasnt had to use it.We have have concerns about payment shield.
One of the better MPPI providers out there. Good claims record and policy has no onerous restrictions. Nothing to be concerned with there. My partner didn't want the policy and was forced into buying it. He has paid nearly £5000 and we are not sure if he is entitled to a refund.
What evidence does your partner have that says he had to have it? it is an unprovable allegation. Chances are the estate agent will have nothing to say it was needed. I doubt your partner does either.
Also, most estate agent brokers did not become regulated until Jan 2005. So, this is way before regulation. Also, is the estate agent still trading? For example we are not sure if he was even entitled to it as an agency worker?
It can cover a selection of agency workers depending on the contract.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA). The comments I make are just my opinion and are for discussion purposes only.
