Normal & Low Tariff consumption identical
An elderly gentleman I look out for has just received an electricity bill from Eon that shows that he has consumed exactly the same amount of electricity on both his normal and low tariff rates to the nearest Kwh. I have checked the meter readings he took and they are right and the bill is for actual rather estimated consumption. Any one know how this can happen?

Why would this be strange?
If you mean E7, then well done, he is using 50% at night rates (although one would expect that for a winter quarter.) (And most quarters for the more elderly.)
If an old about to be replace two-tier tariff then low use can be split fifty-fifty.
I am not sure if your question makes sense for a one-off statement - if you have past bills and each and every bill suffers this then there is a problem.
Visit and see if the appropriate meter is increasing during the day (and the other meter is not).0 -
Users with night storage heaters I find to usually around the 50 % or more mark for electric consumption or even 60/40 % for the more careful. If he has nt got night storage heating then he s doing very well being well above the 30% break even point0

The thing I find odd that not that he is using around 50%, it is the fact that he is using exactly 50% to the nearest Kwh. He does have a night storage heater that he can hear switching on and off at the start and end of the night tariff. He switched to E-on Age Uk fixed 1yr v 4.0 in Oct last year. I only have sight of the bill from July last year so cannot comment on previous figures but have spoken with E-on and they say up until Jul last year there was day/night variation in use. We have started monitoring his daily consumption at E-on's request but have no data yet, E-on were unable to explain the meter readings.0 -
Morning ninthace,
It can happen.
If he's a bit unsure, if he can, ask him to take some regular reads from the meter and do a bit of monitoring.
I can see we've asked you to do this.
Can you see a more recent bill? I think you need to have all the figures in from of you first.
We also have a consumption department who will be able to help you with this, once we've got a bit of data.
If you need any further info or help, just let me know
