Hello everyone. Welcome to the Weekly Spend Challenge. This challenge is open to anybody, no matter what financial place they are in. Everyone is welcome here.

On this thread please post an amount of money you wish to stay below within the week (Sunday to end of working day on Friday). This can be pennies or thousands it depends on the individual. Then next Saturday report back and pledge for the following week. The challenge runs from Sunday to Friday so we don't include Saturdays but feel free to change the rules to suit you and include Saturdays or start on a different day.

Feel free to update this thread with daily spends if that keeps you on track. We colour code the results as below:

Green - within budget
Red - over budget
Purple - zero spend
Orange - made money over the week

This is a little bit of fun but for many it highlights the fact that maybe that magazine/chocolate bar isn't needed. Hopefully your spending habits can be changed forever.

Moozie was the founder of this challenge and here is a quote taken from her:

The challenge is about incidental spending and not for stuff that should be budgeted elsewhere such as bills, groceries, debt repayment etc but you decide what to include at the end - this is about changing your habits and improving your recording of your spends more than anything else. Have a great week everyone and keep it low!!! Moozie x"

Good Luck Everyone

    My plans for the week

    Sun - NSD
    Mon - NSD
Tues - course at work 9-5, NSD
Weds - baby group and lunch - £10
Thurs - GP appt - NSD
Fri - baby group, NSD (hubby home today so may be an unexpected spend, been away since 3rd and it's valentines)
    Sat - NSD

So will go for £15 this week and hope I don't have too many unexpected spends.

    £0 / £15

Really going to try and stick with this. Work have agreed for me to return part time from my maternity in May, :D so pennies will be particularly tight from then. I still have vouchers for debenhams and boots for treats through the year to keep me going.

    Monday report

Dentist cost me £15! Good old NHS!:T

Top up shop tomorrow, but hoping to keep it low:money:

Yikes! Just looked back at my pledge to spend less than £31! Didn't really factor that dental appointment in accurately, oops!

  • Hello! I would like to join this challenge please! Not going to include food shop/petrol/bills etc as they are joint spends with oh. I would like to focus on my own spends as I would like to save as much as possible of what I have left after my monthly contribution to the joint account. Proposed plan for the rest of the week:

Tuesday: gym class/church meeting = NSD
    Wednesday: piano lessons/gym class = Earn £15
Thursday: no plans/possible crisps and magazine day = Spend £3
    Friday: youth club/possible takeaway = Spend £10
Saturday: friends house for coffee and cake/watch hockey match/no other plans at present = Spend £5

Total spend including £15 earnt: £3!

I have an addiction to crisps which is what I am likely to spend on...really trying to be good at the moment so hoping to only buy some once if at all!!!!
    Save 12k in 2014 (my target: £10 000):
    My savings: £4878.54/£7000
    Joint account savings: £2685.57/£3000
    Total:£7564.11/£10 000 (as at 26/10/14)
