Crack in ceiling of kitchen underneath bathroom

Hello,
Im really struggling to know where to go with this problem, about 7 years ago (before i purchased the house)there was a leak in the bathroom. This was fixed and the kitchen ceiling was replastered and is a lath and plaster ceiling. Over the last 18 months a crack has appeared where the original leak affected the kitchen ceiling and has been steadily getting bigger to the point where it is really concerning. Also the bathroom floor tiles feel loose when you walk in certain parts. There isnt a leak at the moment but i am worried that the leak 7 years ago could have damaged the joist that runs accross the bathroom and the joist now cant handle the weight of baths etc... Does anyone have any advise? We have had a few different handymen in to do various jobs over the last 18 months and all have said its nothing but it is still getting worse...
Thank you for your help
Ricky

Was the ceiling just skimmed - ie a thin coat of plaster aplied to the plaster already there? If so, its possible that the original plaster is losing its grip on the laths.
I had similar work done and there is a thin crack across the ceiling but its stayed the same for years now, so it's just normal movement I think.
Perhaps you could try , very gently, pushing up on various parts of the ceiling to see if there's much movement there. But be very careful - you might make the problem worse suddenly! You might be able to tell if it's the skim coat thats coming away, or the whole lot.0 -

What kind of tile? Ceramic? Vinyl?

I would hope there's more than one joist....

You won't know for certain until you either lift the flooring in the bathroom or remove a section of the ceiling below.....0
