What is MSVCR80.DLL?

Options
My laptop is telling me to reinstall iTunes because I haven't got the above. It then gives me a Windows 7 error message. What is the above please? I haven't uninstalled anything recently except Microsoft Office (then reinstalled from DVD) so don't know why i suddenly haven't got the above.

These behaviors can occur if the iTunes installer has insufficient privileges to cleanly update iTunes. To resolve the issue, remove iTunes thoroughly, and then give the iTunes installer administrator privileges.
  • in control panel, sort by publisher and remove all these from apple: mobile device support, bonjour, apple application support, iTunes.

then run ccleaner to remove any leftover registry keys.

restart computer, try installing fresh. should work. good luck

I have done the first part of this and tried to uninstall all the ones listed above but Apple mobile device support doesn't disappear from the list of installed programs. No error message to say that it hasn't uninstalled but it stays there. I restarted the machine and looked again but it is still there.
Is that a problem? i haven't yet tried to install fresh.

When I got this message I had just installed the latest version of Itunes(11.4). I got rid of it and went back to the previous version(11.3) and end of problem. You can probably get rid ofApple Mobile DEvice by using Revo uninstaller but I'm not sure you need to.

Thanks. Seems to have worked ok. It certainly opens on my desktop which didn't happen a couple of days ago. Haven't yet connected the iPod to it.
