Cheap(er) theatre tickets

Is there any other way, apart from the usual Ticketmaster etc sites that I can book London theatre tickets either online or phone? Apart from the high prices, they then add booking fees and proportionately high postal charges ( I once paid £3.50 postal charge for 2 tickets which came in a normal sized envelope). I'm not tight, just retired and on limited income.

Have a look on theatremonkey.com gives you all the latest theatre offers0

Can you call the theatre box office direct and just pick them up when you arrive? The tickets are not actually needed until you get there.0

another vote for theatremonkey also lastminute sometimes has some good deals. Do you live near London? My mum has a freedom pass so goes up to London and takes pot luck as you will see on theatremonkey some shows do day tickets and they are a lot cheaper, it also depends if you have a certain show in mind as you may not get any deals.

Last minute seem to get good offers.
From here to Eternity seems to be heavily discounted.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0 -
If you're retired, you will often be able to get discounted tickets on the day at the box office. Very few shows actually sell out.0

Tkts is the only official discount booth - its in Leicester Square. They do offer some shows in advance. Otherwise, its pot luck when you arrive at their premises.

Theatre Monkey is great for showing where to sit, etc, but I'd still try and buy direct from the relevant Box Office. http://www.theatremonkey.com
If you are able to wait until the day, some theatres offer 'day seats' - limited in number to personal callers from the Box Office. For example, I got a Stalls ticket to see 'Singin' in the Rain', 4th row for £25 (instead of £60). Some do sell out early in the day, but for that one, I walked in and asked if they had any left at 6.30 p.m. on a Thursday evening.
Good luck.0 -
Only way is to keep an eyeo out for special offers, subscribing to their newsletter is a good bet! x0

Have you thought about going to any of the BBC radio or TV recordings - they're totally free.
Or join - 'the audience club' they have tickets for unsold seats for very little.0
