OS Daily Thread Saturday 8th February
This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” is fine.

JackieO Sounds like you had a great day :D Late cake from me :bdaycake:

I met Ethan yesterday, I took him to the pub :D We met E and R in town and went for a quick drink before they headed off to register him. I haven't cuddled him yet, my cold hasn't quite gone, but he's sooo lovely and gorgeous and beautiful. I was given permission to show him off on FB :D

Our bed arrived on thursday, we put it together yesterday. Mr tru turned it into The Job Of The Century. If I was on my own it would taken 10 mins :rotfl:

We nipped into Sainsbury's (haven't been there for ages) because it was on our way, it's always cost a bit more there but when did it get sooooo expensive? Back to Morrison's next week :D

Master tru's friend is popping in this morning to check the boiler for leaks. Mr tru topped it up the other day, within two days the pressure had dropped right down and it stopped working. He topped up again, it's still going for now :D The pipes are all fine so it must be the pressure valve in the boiler.

It was quite windy as I was walking through town yesterday, I could feel my leg tensing up. Try as I might, I just couldn't relax the muscle. It's very stiff this morning so I'll have to keep moving today to loosen it up. Which is really annoying because I have new yarn and I want to sit and play with it :D

Morning all,

Not raining here atm but we are due that big storm today so we shall see ! I am off to work with dd it will be nice to work with her for a change, she is normally in a different department. Even with working the odd weekend I would so much rather be working at this place than the last, the manager is like a breath of fresh air here, and not a little Hitler !

OH will be in charge of dinner which will be lamb casserole and crusty bread which he will put in the sc. I got all of the towels washed and almost dried on the line, I have been waiting for a fine day to do them.

DD will be off to her boy'f tonight so it will just be a quiet night for OH and I.

Have good days all xx

Morning everyone

Had a much better night’s sleep last night, fell asleep downstairs and woke at 11pm – so went straight up to bed, and once in bed went straight back to sleep and didn’t wake until DH disturbed me as he was getting up.

DH and DS1 up and gone to work stupid early.

I’m working this morning too.

Now getting light, really windy with a clear sky here, damp underfoot but looks to be drying up – forecast is not very good for later, so we could get yet more rain.
Dinner last night was chicken and bacon kievs, chips, beans and salad for the menfolk, mushroom omelette and salad for me. We have friends coming over tonight for eats and drinks, so made the base for a cheesecake last night and have just made the filling, so that will be set and ready for tonight. I bought majority of the food yesterday – budget busted unfortunately – but we haven’t seen this friends since before Xmas so will be good to catch up – food is really simple, salads, hot new potatoes, selection of meats, (hand carved ham, beef, turkey), a selection of hot bites, chicken goujons, mini pancake rolls, sausage rolls etc, baguettes, pate, cheese, may cook pizza for anyone that wants it, dessert will be a choice of HM cheesecake, apple pie or chocolate gateau, cheeseboard, biscuits, port and of course wine, beer, or whatever drink anyone wants! Will stop off at the SM on my way as want to get the baguettes then, and the sliced meats etc.

Hoping that if I have enough time this afternoon I can do some baking/cooking – that was the plan for yesterday but the outlaws had rang earlier in the week and asked if they could come round and could I book their car parking as they’ve got a last minute deal for a week in March. I said it’s fine come on Friday afternoon about 1.30pm and by 2.15pm they hadn’t arrived or been in contact, was starting to worry something may have happened, I rang them and MIL just said, Oh yes we are coming but we’ve got people here at the moment we’ll come later – would have been nice if they’d got in touch and just said, we’ve got visitors is it ok to come a bit later – not just assume – that’s why they don’t have many friends/acquaintances because of their attitude ……………… don’t get me started! And breathe ………………………… So by the time they had been, booked the car parking and then MIL had the name of the hotel and wanted me to get it on the pc so she could read the reviews etc and gone I didn’t have enough time to do any baking/cooking.

Have a good Saturday everyone x

Keep safe and well x

DGD didn't stay the night as she has a cold & a sore throat & with hubby on lates & working this morning she wouldn't have got enough sleep.
So I have a child free weekend, plans include housework, knitting & doing another Tarot reading.
Time I dropped hubby at work
Have a good day everyone.

• Good morning everyone :)

Didn't get back to catch up on news yesterday but did have a relaxing evening and a really good sleep. Just disturbed once or twice by the wild weather but soon snuggled down and got back to sleep.

Watched the final episode of Bridge II last night on iPlayer. I had said to DH that it would end in tears but I had no idea it would be so sad.

JackieO - am so sorry I missed your birthday. Belated Happy Birthday and am very glad you had a lovely day and was spoiled by your family :bdaycake:
Hilstep - condolences to you and your family on the loss of your MIL, she is at peace now. Very good to hear about your hospital appointment and hope the positive news is ongoing.

LW - you lovely doggy heroine!

Molly - with friends like that, who needs enemies! Horrible people don't deserve friends like you

Well wishes for all sick people and pets and hugs for those that need or just want them. Keep well, warm and safe and have a super day :)

PS: My message looks very strange on my monitor but I can't fix it so hope it does not make a messy thread! :o

Morning all,

Rain stopped and looking bright. Wonder how long that will last.

Off to take DS2 to work and then most likely Aldi for some bits. DH wants to go and look at a car later. I have totally lost interest as he keeps changing his mind.
DS2 has a driving lesson after work tonight and I am feeling a bit CBA so I might suggest take away for dinner tonight.

Had an emergency appointment at the Drs yesterday teatime so made sweet and sour with noodles instead of the planned Morrocan.

Happy Saturday to you all.
• Good morning all,
It was raining very heavily when i first got up at 6 this morning. It is now just a fine drizzle but the wind is really getting up now.
hilstep, thinking of you and your family x
JackieO, belated birthday wishes to you. Sounds like you had a fantastic day x
Washing and ironing today. Will have a quick hoover through. Will get everything done sooner rather than later as i don't feel 100% today. Head is thumping and throat and ear feels very sore.
Tea tonight is chilli from the freezer. Will will proabably have a jacket potato with it.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need it.

• Hi all
Hubby's been dropped at work I've collected a parcel from the sorting office. Fish have been fed & so have I, porridge for me & lump free, better than the porridge at work, lol.
I don't think I've seen a post from Judi for a while, I hope she is ok.
It's not raining here yet, but I don't think it will be long, the flood waters are rising and the buses have been diverted as their turning circle is under water. It's getting very difficult to find somewhere to park as all the people from the big posh houses who's drives are flooded, are now parking their cars along the roads where I live.
I was a bit concerned about hubby this morning, I passed him his packed lunch & he opened the fridge & took out a can of beer, I was just about to ask him if he really needed alcohol at 8 in the morning, when he looked at the beer, looked at his packed lunch, looked confused, put the beer back & picked up the pint of milk he needed for work.
WM is chugging through the 2nd load, DW just finished so I better make a move.
Hugs Hester
