Calendar software for Win 7?

Options
I am looking for a good free Calendar software that can be downloaded onto my laptop.

I am running Win 7 and have been using Google calendar but wanted to change to a new one where i can download the software for it onto my laptop.

Does anyone know of any good ones apart from the Google one?

An interesting question as you seem to be swimming against the tide with this.

Most people are using cloud based calendars as it means they can see it on all their devices.

I don't know of any free calendars other than perhaps the one in Windows Live Mail and I'm not sure if that isn't a cloud based one.

On the Macs you get iCal but I sync mine with Google calendar and to be honest rarely open iCal any more.

Outlook has an excellent calendar but isn't free.

I'll be interested to see what others suggest.

    Have you tried Mozillla Lightning?
    1. Have you tried to Google the answer?
    2. If you were in the other person's shoes, how would you react?
    3. Do you want a quick answer or better understanding?

Use Mozilla Thunderbird for email and Lightning add-on for calendar. Latter mainly for scheduled reminders to put the bins out. Both work OK.

And you can use Lightning as a client for your Google Calendar, so you can still have your diary in the cloud.

No, you need Thunderbird (email client) + Lightning. If you don't want Thunderbird then Sunbird is the standalone version.
