48 yr old female
47 yr UK residence
Driving since 1987
Full UK licence
Maximum no claims
Less than 1000 miles per year
Never had any points, convictions or anything,
Never claimed for anything, no accidents ever,
Completely clean licence
Park outside my home
Ideal female driver & the cheapest quote from LV was £440

And the rest of the quotes came to £700 Plus upto £1900 !!!!
Oh & on one I accendently wrote born here & got quoted £407. But as sonn as I corrected that to came here when I was a year old the quote zoomed up to £1000 !!!

I don't know but does race & place of birth affect your driving ability??!!

Yet I've spoke to friends with practically the same details as me except they were born here & there quotes were £150 & another for a 59yr lady & her husband £165. !!!!!

Can anyone help explain why my quotes are sky high?

less than 1000 miles a year would be a concern, IMO. I think you'd need to be driving at least 5k a year to retain skill on the road.

driving so little you're effectively very green on the road when you're driving. so more accident prone.

The only info you haven't given is your location and profession. Maybe they are a higher risk?

Add a named driver - often that can bring a quote down

As above what stands out is your very low annual mileage, but I realise you also haven't told us what the car is?

From a money saving point of view, consider if you really need a car at all for such low mileage.
  • Thank you so much for the advice everyone❤
It's a Fabia comfort scoda & I live in Leicester (in an average area not particularly high with crime LE4)

It's strange as in the past I have received lower quotes for the lower mileage :(

I know getting rid of the car would be easier & cheaper but have held onto it for emergencies But just can't get ever the quotes :(

Out of interest also tried Sheila's wheels last night as I had missed them out & this is what I got:

    Monthly Cost
    £171.72*
    Annual Premium
    £1,878.45

No, seriously, increase your mileage from 1000 to 5k+.
  • Thank you Jim I'll try increasing mileage

Increase your annual mileage and give Direct Line a try. I've always found them to be extremely competitive and they don't appear on comparison sites.
