What counts as savings for Tax Credits ?

CIS is right. It's only means tested benefits which have the lower capital limit of £6000. Tax credits are not classed as benefits.

If you check the forms (sorry if you not got yours yet) you don't need to declare any savings which don't give interest either eg ISA, premium bonds, national savings bonds (I think).
