Lloyds PPI help

Ok, so after years of hearing about PPI I actually want to try and make a claim.
I have been a customer of Lloyds since about 1995.
In that time I have had a small loan for 2 years around 1998 and credit cards.
I remember at some point getting a phone call from someone at Llloyds saying that I had to pay a charge every month which I assume was PPI as if my cards were lost I would be liable to payout if somebody had used my card? Is this bank charges or credit card PPI, I'm confused and clearly clueless about it all. I stupidly thought I was covering myself. In other words, made me feel it was compulsory!
I still am a Lloyds customer today so have original bank account.
How do I go about it? I know that some people who are making telephone claims appear to be having a hard time claiming.
Thanks for your help.

It is not PPI and it they are not bank charges. It is card protection. How do I go about it? I know that some people who are making telephone claims appear to be having a hard time claiming.
You are not claiming. You are complaining. Using the phone is no more harder than the other methods you can use. The only people who would find it harder on the phone are those that are nervous or those that dont actually have a valid reason for complaint and are trying it on.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
