Hi,
We are going for a family day out tomorrow.
Wondered if someone could tell me the best road to park in (with postcode if poss) to avoid car park charges, but close enough to walk in with a 6 year old.
Any (serious) suggestions welcomed.
Thanks in advance

I can't think of any streets with unrestricted parking within walking distance that I would be willing to leave my car in....there is some on street parking in Ladywood that you could walk from (I used to collect my step son from there and walk into the centre for a train when he was young) but it isn't a nice neighbourhood. If you have a really rubbish car and will definitely get back to it in daylight then you might not be bothered, but otherwise I really wouldn't.Common sense?...There's nothing common about sense!0

The majority of the city centre is a controlled parking zone.
Parking at the Bullring is expensive - for info prices can be found here
I would recommend considering the car park on Great Charles St/Ludgate Hill as the charges are more reasonable and the walk isn't too far into town/library/etc
Details can be found here
Hope you have a great day0 -
There are some NCP car parks- one near Dale End that is £4.
Think the council car park on moat lane (the market car park is a similar price).0 -
I would agree with the last poster. Moat Lane is fairly reasonable for city centre parking. It is very close to the well known "Rag Market". It is only a few minutes walk to the Bull Ring from there.
As you have a young child this may be a suitable option for you.
Remember Saturday is market day and will be very busy.
Although parking is available under Debenhams store it is very expensive. I doubt you will find anywhere within walking distance for free. If you do find a free parking area please let me know. Watch out for clampers. If you park in an unmarked illegal place, it will cost you a fortune to get your car back.
Hope you have a good day
Kind regards from Birmingham0 -
Hi all,
Ended up parking at Londonderry for £4 all day... thanks for the help and advice...
Had a great day - including visiting the museum for free - sadly the Egyptian mummies have been put away for a while, but some amazing and beautiful paintings and sculpture there. My sons enjoyed it too.
Thanks again
