The problem is that rents are going up as well.

In my part of London, house prices have suddenly jumped in the past couple of months, and I noticed rents have followed.

London is just completely detached from reality (and most of the country). Well, at least my rent isn't budging. Thankfully, my landlord has been in the business for years and I believe owns the property outright.

    Arghh, time for bed

Lol - I think you're not wrong. A friend of mine has just paid 60K more than I did four months ago for a one bed flat, same size as mine, and in not as nice as block about two mins walk from where I live. She paid asking price, as did I. Ouch.

Finally got round to looking up Big Bank's forecast for base rates. +0.25% this time around with at least one more before year end then no further change until end of 2008.

Betfair is tracking at about 1.18 for a +.25% hike. I've not known the betting market to be wrong for a while...

We will just be starting to recover in 2 years time from record unemployment; not a chance that rates will be above 4% imo.

Cripes - some of the "speculation" 2 years ago turned out to be scarily premonitionary.

In all seriousness, spot on guys ... you saw the problem with house prices, CDOs, bad debt etc ....
    Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac ;)
