I'm trying to download a job application form. It's in rich text format but if I try to open or save it in Open Office the layout is all over the place and is pretty much unusable.
Can anyone advise if there is a way around this please? Thanks in advance.

Look for WORDPAD on your computer,
Win 7
start - all programs - accessories- wordpad0 -
When you save, make sure you save as the same format that you opened .. rtf if that doesn't work you can't really do anything else. Wordpad is rubbish0

If I open it with Wordpad it has the format all messed up, the same as it does with Open Office. I think I'm going to end up having to buy MS Office, unless anyone else has any other ideas.3 stone down, 3 more to go0

Try downloading Libre Office (this is the successor to Open Office) and use the Libre Office writer part of this office suite.0

There is the possibility that the file is corrupt, so whatever you use may give the same results, suggest you find someone who has MS Office and see if it opens correctly.0

Thanks to everyone for all the suggestions. I emailed the link to my son and he managed to fix it. He told me that he opened it in Word 2000, saved it as a word doc and then opened it in Open Office.3 stone down, 3 more to go0
