Having spent some time this morning cleaning malware and tool bars from my daughter's laptop, I came across a neat little Freeware program called "Unchecky". It simply ensures that when you are installing downloaded programs you don't also install potentially unwanted programs.
Might be worth a try for those who often don't pay full attention when installing programs and end up with various toolbars on their system.

So does it uncheck ALL ticks?
So when a site says untick this to install crapware it helpfully unticks it?
Or where you get a site that says tick this one and untick the next one?
Maybe people need to read before clicking next? I get too many calls from people who have removed the FW and AV i setup for them and installed crapafee. Then clicked yes to allow everything in the firewall.Censorship Reigns Supreme in Troll City...0 -

Having done a bit more browsing I've now rediscovered another very good piece of freeware called Ninite. This program is particularly useful if you have recently done a factory restore and don't want to spend much time reinstalling your needed programs. By running Ninite you simply tick the boxes for the software you want and it downloads and installs the latest versions of them minus the bloatware.
In my opinion it is particularly useful for the non-techies who are searching for the easiest and most practical way to get their system up to date again. Also, once installed it will keep your programs up to date automatically.
If you are not satisfied with it after a month or so, simply uninstall it and go back to either not updating or updating manually.0
