Ants!!

We've got ants already, in the middle of winter!

Laminate floor in the kitchen and they're coming up underneath it somewhere and out through various gaps around the side. Not in any huge numbers just the odd one or two so I don't think they've found a food source, but the mrs hates them and I get the hassle.

Apart from dropping some powder down the gaps and sealing them, is there any better way of persuading them the kitchin is not for them? I know there are various smells they don't like but I don't want to be squirting pongs around every 3 days if I can help it.
Out on blue six..
It's Chips and Jackets, Peas and Trousers.

The best stuff to use is Nippon or Amazon link

The gel is taken back to the nest, and fed to the queen. It really is effective, I can vouch for that. Place a small amount on a postage-stamp size card (aids cleanup, and stick it where the ants run. Watch as one ant finds it, waves antennae in excitement, and runs off. Three ants appear, then ten, then thirty, all feeding from the drop. Repeat for two more nights, then wait. You'll still have ants.... it hasn't worked... you'll start fretting, and trying quack remedies (ants don't like Kylie tunes so play 'em that... rotten tortoise eggshells scare them..) Then, suddenly, about ten day later, the ants will vanish. All of them, for good.

The toxin has got to the queen. She dies. There are still adult ants running around for a few days, but no more ants are born.

It's actually all very sad, it is so clinically efficient.

No better advice, but I was told that a likely explanation is that rain's flooding their outside subterrranean nests and driving them to your nice dry home!

So stop the rain and all will be well?!

RAID in red can, spray where they are and where they come in plus any other nooks. Effective for four weeks on ants, spiders, cockroaches and other nasties. X
