Just out of curiosity, I've noticed 'mom' becoming more common in posts. I'd talk about my mother or mam or even mammy as a small child. Similarly mum and mummy. Do the posters who talk about 'mom' actually use the word within the family?
I have a Mom! When I was a child, I called her Mommy. Now I just call her Mom. I have one sibling (the eldest) who calls her Mum and my other two siblings called her Mom. My Mom, however calls her mother Mum!
