HELP,First Utility 15 months gas bills overcharged

I'm having the same issues and moved into my house in July 2014. I was paying between £20-£60 a month for gas and electric, then in December/Jan received an 'estimated bill of £700 for the month. I live in 1 room, have no TV and all energy saving bulbs, and am out of the house most of the time. My heating is with a wood burning stove. Contacted them, over and over, no response, huge mobile phone bill, then they started with the debt collection agencies who keep writing and phoning me at work, and even posted on my work's Facebook page to say that I owe them money. Have spent hours trying to sort it out, and even though I have provided them with an accurate metre reading for gas and electric each month, they say that I owe them another £500 for Jan/Feb on top of the £700.
Absolutely shocking and awful customer service. I'm refusing to pay until they provide me with an accurate bill. I'm self employed so I don't see why I should spend my time doing their work for them. Utter shambles and very stressful.
Wish I knew what to do to just resolve the situation with them. Can I just change suppliers, and if so are the other suppliers any better??0
